Add an audio welcome to your wedding website

Product documentation · Reviewed

An audio welcome is an optional recording from the website hosts. Guests press Play themselves; it never starts automatically. A complete written transcript stays beside the player so the welcome is available without sound.

Open your wedding’s Website, then Your audio welcome. Add your own MP3 or WAV recording, a title, and the complete transcript. Files must be between one second and three minutes, with a maximum original size of 20 MB. The server checks the actual file and decoded duration, then makes a new MP3 with source metadata removed. The original stays private and is never used as the public playback file.

Uploads require activated private storage, an available audio codec worker, configured media pricing, and the workspace owner’s enabled usage allowance and spending cap. These external services remain part of the coordinated activation phase. An upload reserves its server-calculated media amount once; retries reuse the saved reservation and storage intent. An uncertain storage result stays reserved until its accepted file can be verified. This is not an unlimited or free storage promise.

When processing is ready, choose the recording under Website content → Audio welcome. Review the title and complete public transcript, save the draft, then review and publish the website. Uploading, selecting, editing the transcript, replacing the recording, or removing it from a draft does not change the current published page. The publication review covers that exact recording, transcript, and access setting.

Visitors receive only the processed recording belonging to the current publication. Playback checks the current publication and, when enabled, the website password. Custom-domain playback also checks the current domain binding. The player supports pause, seeking, and keyboard controls through the browser’s native audio controls; expand Read the transcript for the text. Previously loaded audio cannot be taken back from a visitor’s browser, but changing access or unpublishing prevents new playback requests.

If an upload response is interrupted, keep the original file and details and choose Check original upload. After reloading, a failed or incomplete library entry offers Recover using the original file; its filename, bytes, title and original transcript must match. Retry processing rechecks a stored original without creating another upload. A newer worker’s lease or a completed removal prevents an older processing attempt from publishing a result.

Remove an unused recording from the library to queue private cleanup. A recording retained by a published version cannot be deleted through this control: first remove it from the draft and publish if you want it absent from the live site. Retained publication history keeps its referenced files so a later explicit restore remains verifiable. Restoring history creates a private draft and does not publish it automatically.

This feature uploads host recordings. It does not record from a microphone, accept guest voice messages, supply licensed music, or publish guest media. MP4, M4A, Ogg and other audio formats are not supported in this release; export an MP3 or WAV first. Codec activation includes checking the deployed FFmpeg runtime, private storage and protected byte-range playback.
