AI in practice
Ask AI for a planning draft you can actually review
Editorial team · Reviewed
AI is most useful when its output can be compared with explicit inputs and constraints. A polished paragraph is not enough evidence that a timeline, budget or message is ready to use.
A practical sequence
- Provide the known anchors, quantities and source records.
- Ask the system to identify assumptions and missing information.
- Review the proposed changes before applying them.
- Validate times, amounts, recipients and permissions with deterministic checks.
Work through an example
A draft timeline includes an attractive portrait block but assumes travel takes five minutes. The planner can correct the assumption because it is visible, then rerun the schedule. An unexplained confident answer would make the same error harder to notice.
Where judgement matters
Keep sending, charging, signing and destructive edits behind clear user intent and appropriate controls. Do not let a document or email supplied as context issue instructions to the system. Preserve a reviewable change set and a recovery path.
Make it usable
Open the working tool and work through the decision with your own inputs. Adapt the structured template to preserve the choices and responsibilities. Keep an original copy so later changes remain understandable.
Work the decision
A practice case
An original fictional scenario. Numbers are illustrative inputs; this is not a customer result or a provider performance claim.
An assistant suggests moving dinner because the ceremony is delayed. Its answer is only useful if it identifies the wedding records it used, shows the proposed differences and respects fixed constraints. A confident sentence should not become an external message or schedule publication without the authorized decision the workflow requires.
| Decision | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Show the sources the actor is allowed to read. | Private records from another workspace must never become context for a convenient answer. |
| Preview the proposed changes before execution. | The reviewer needs exact record, field and value differences rather than a general promise to update things. |
| Recheck the record when applying the approval. | A newer edit can invalidate a proposal that was sensible when generated. |
Make one usable artifact
Rehearse an assistant task with a sourced summary and a proposed private task. Edit the proposal, review it again and apply it once to the intended workspace.
Then test the difficult case
A quoted document contains instructions to ignore permissions and email a stranger. Treat it as untrusted source content and keep external action behind scoped, explicit approval.
Use the linked tool or structured template below to record the result. Confirm it against the actual people, agreements and permissions before using it for an event.
